General Motors approached Origin to develop a brand name for a new mini-MPV to be positioned between the Zafira and Agila models. The new name needed to fit into the existing portfolio of consumer vehicle names and appeal to drivers across a diverse range of language markets.
Origin developed Meriva, a non-descriptive coined name that offers universal pronunciation throughout all target markets. Although initially free of obvious associations, over time Meriva took on and came to represent its own specific brand values and attributes.
