In Thailand, the rice harvest was being devastated by the brown planthopper insect. Bayer developed a new insecticide from a different chemical class to traditional insecticides that had become less effective. Bayer wished to launch the product as a brand and asked for Origin’s help to create a brand name.
Origin created the name ‘Curbix’ derived from the verb ‘to curb’ meaning ‘to control,’ the name has an obvious reference to the insecticide’s function, as well as being easy to pronounce in target markets.
